Shakur Hassan murder – 13-year-old appears in court

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy has appeared at the Old Bailey charged with the murder of a man in West London.

Shakur Hassan, 23, was shot dead in Austin Road, Hayes, on the evening of October 13 last year.

The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared via video link on Thursday April 8 from a youth offenders’ institute where he is remanded. He is also charged with perverting course of justice.

Two men and a 16-year-old boy, who also cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court on Thursday.

Guled Hassan, 21, of Convent Way, Southall, appeared via video link from HMP Wormwood Scrubs and pleaded not guilty to murder.

Jamie Ayres, 46, of Broomcroft Avenue, Northolt, appeared from HMP Wandsworth. He denies murder and perverting the course of justice by assisting the escape of suspected offenders. the

The 16-year-old boy appeared in the court dock and pleaded not guilty to murder.

A trial date has been scheduled for July 5.

Shakur, known as Abdishakur or Shak, was described as a “kind soul” by friends in the days after the shooting.

Nikki, who only gave her first name, lived next to the 23-year-old in a block of flats on Silverdale Road, overlookin­g where he was killed.

She told My London: “He’s been my neighbour for 19 years. It’s hit me hard, but it’s hit my daughter harder. She was friends with him.

“He was so polite. He was really helpful, he often helped me with the shopping.

“He was always talking to me and everything else. So when I heard the news today, I felt physically sick.”
