TRIBUTES have poured in following the news that the body found in Epping Forest on Monday is that of missing student Richard Okorogheye.

Specialist divers discovered the body on Monday April 5, after days of searching Epping Forest, where Richard was last sighted, on a residential street in the early hours of Tuesday March 23.

In a statement released on Wednesday April 7, the Metropolitan Police confirmed the body has been formally identified as Richard.

Tributes to Richard have continued to pour in online following the formal identification, adding to those which came in Monday.

“The world has lost a bright young star,” said one person.

“Thoughts and prayers with Richard’s family. Just heart-breaking & unimaginable what they are all going through,” said one concerned member of the public.

A second person wrote online: “So devastated for him and his mother and all his friends . As a mother myself I can only imagine this poor mother’s pain and it’s probably nothing in comparison to what she is going through.

“My deepest sympathy and empathy to all who knew his beautiful kind soul. May he walk in the light now and may the light heal his family’s souls with love.”

Another added: “Praying for peace for his family.”

“Rest in peace young man,” added a third.

“So, so sad another tragic young life lost. There is no where near enough support available to our youngsters today,” added another.

“Omg this has brought tears to my eyes. Was praying for his family that it wasn’t him. Poor young soul may he rest in paradise and condolences to his family,” said another.

“God rest his soul. So so very sad. R.I.P,” added another saddened member of the public

“Rest in paradise. You’ve touched so many people’s hearts. Thinking of the family,” said another.

Detective Superintendent Danny Gosling, Head of the Met’s Central West Public Protection Unit, said: “My deepest sympathies go out to Richard’s family at this incredibly difficult time.

“This was not the outcome that any of us had hoped for and we will ensure that his grieving family are well-supported by specially trained officers.

“I would like to extend my thanks to the many officers, staff and members of the public who have each played a part in the extensive effort to locate Richard.”

The investigation into the circumstances of Richard’s death is ongoing.
