DON’T even think about it, unless you can handle 43kgs of Mastiff Cross. Luna’s only eighteen months old and she’s already been given up for rehoming once because her owner couldn’t manage her. She doesn’t want that to happen again.

Let’s be clear, Luna loves humans and would love to sit on your lap – if she can fit herself on. But she’s not keen on other dogs and will pull towards them and bark. Whoever adopts this gorgeous girl will have to be strong enough to manage her. They will also need to have time to continue her socialisation and training.

Currently in the care of the National Animal Welfare Trust (NAWT),

Luna is looking for an owner who is experienced with large Mastiff breed dogs. She will also need direct access to a large garden. If this could be with you, see more details at nawt.org.uk.

As the Covid restrictions ease, many people are making plans to go on holiday. For those who need boarding facilities for their pets, NAWT offer boarding for dogs, cats and small animals. Boarding your pet with NAWT when you go away is a win-win situation. Not only will your pet be looked after by dedicated staff members but also the money you pay for their boarding will go towards supporting the homeless animals in their care. More details about boarding are available at nawt.org,uk or call 020 8950 0177. NAWT is located at Tyler’s Way, Watford-by-Pass, WD25 8WT. Places get booked up quickly so book ahead.

Readers who have been to NAWT’s rehoming centre near Watford will know it’s full of love for the animals with every penny they raise being carefully collected and thoughtfully spent.

One way they make money is by participating in the Recycling For Good Causes scheme. Many of us have items lying around that we don’t use but don’t want to throw away because they could be worth something.

If you give things to NAWT under this scheme, it’s another win-win situation.

You know you’ve helped needy animals and, at the same time, you’ve tidied up your home. Items accepted in the scheme include jewellery and watches (even if damaged or broken), currency (any coins/ banknotes, UK or foreign, even if out of circulation), cameras (old film, digital or video), mobile phones, stamps (used, loose, postcard collections) and gadgets (such as sat navs, ipods, games consoles and accessories). Items can be brought to the centre but please make an appointment.
