Man jailed for attempted robberies
A MAN has been jailed for a series of attempted robberies at supermarkets in west and south-west London after he was caught claiming cash prizes on a batch of stolen lottery scratch-cards.
Henderson Domingo, 47, of Kirkfield Close, was traced and arrested following an investigation into a batch of National Lottery scratch-cards which were stolen from a supermarket in Upper Richmond Road in January 2021.
Domingo visited four shops in Ealing to claim winnings from the stolen scratch-cards and was paid a total of £255 from 27 stolen cards. Domingo was subsequently arrested by Flying Squad officers at around 5.50am on February 25 last year near a supermarket in Northfield Avenue.
He was in possession of a knife and in the process of attempting to rob the supermarket by approaching a person, whom he believed was a member of staff, as the store prepared to open. After Domingo was arrested, a total of £14,881 in cash was recovered from his West Ealing address.
Domingo was charged in February 2021 with five robberies, two attempted robberies and one count of possession of a bladed article.
In each of the five robberies, Domingo threatened staff with a knife before making off with cash and other items. He was subsequently charged with a further attempted robbery.
The man was found guilty of all nine counts on Friday July 8 at Kingston Crown Court, where he was jailed for a total of 14 years.
