OPDC Board Member
London • Remunerated at the level of £14,000 per annum Mayoral appointment to Board member position – Old Oak and Park Royal Development Corporation (OPDC)
OPDC is the Mayor’s statutory development corporation responsible for the regeneration of London’s largest Opportunity Area at Old Oak and Park Royal. Our board of twelve, appointed by the Mayor, and chaired by Liz Peace CBE, is drawn from a wide range of backgrounds, including the leaders of our three boroughs. We have two upcoming vacancies on the Board and are looking for exceptional indiviuals to fil these roles.
With the construction of the High Speed Two Old Oak Common ‘superhub’ well underway, bringing HS2, GWR and Elizabeth Line services into the heart of our area, this is an exciting and crucial time to join OPDC to help ensure that London’s bestconnected new location delivers its full potential– and creates a sustainable, inclusive and flourishing new district in west London.
Some 6,000 new homes are already either complete, under construction or with planning consents ready to build, with many thousands more to come, but our programmes span a wide range of other regeneration initiatives, including local employment and business support, public realm improvements and new community facilities.
Working closely with our borough partners, local landowners and residents, we are driving ahead with new development projects, and working in close collaboration with government departments, Network Rail and High Speed Two to co-ordinate the huge tracts of land that will be released for development as HS2 construction progresses. Our project is highly complex, with numerous stakeholders, major funding requirements and significant delivery challenges. But it also holds the promise of delivering at a scale and breadth that can bring huge benefits to local communities, business and newcomers alike, and that we are determined to achieve.
Our new Board Members will be individuals who relish this scale of the challenge; who share our enthusiasm for the rich heritage and diversity of the area and its communities; but who also appreciate the opportunities that major change can offer. We are looking for one Board Member with leadership level experience of how to deliver truly meaningful community engagement and communications and ensure it is more than just words. You will also have experience of working in partnership with Government stakeholders at the highest levels. You will be comfortable operating in a public and transparent governance structure.
We are also looking for a Board Member to represent our diverse communities and businesses – you will have experience of doing business in our part of West London and understand the unique opportunities and challenges here. You will be a passionate advocate and strong voice on the Board to ensure we deliver what our communities and businesses need.
