STONEHENGE built as a ceremonial altar for Druid sacrifices, or was it some sort of primitive observatory? Maybe it was a Stone Age calendar, allowing our caveman ancestors to keep track of the seasons. The fact is that despite centuries of excavations and investigations at the site, historians, archaeologists and anthropologists still have no clear idea of this giant stone circle’s original purpose.
