DOWNTON FILM TO BE SET IN SPACE

-

FANS of hit TV show Downton Abbey are in for a surprise of galactic proportions. For it has just been revealed that the forthcoming film of the period drama will be set in space! “I’ve always been a huge fan of the Jetsons,” said posh writer Julian Fellowes. “So the chance to set Downton Abbey in space is, for me, tremendously exciting.”

It is understood that the movie will feature the whole Crawley family and their servants boarding a giant spaceship piloted by Lord Robert, which will take them all to Mars. Once on the red planet they will establish a new space-manor and involve themselves in mildly diverting escapades.

“I think that after the way the final series ended, with the wonderful wedding and Bates’ and Anna’s child, the only logical place we can take the story is into the final frontier,” a possibly drunk Fellowes continued.

spoilers

“I won’t give any spoilers, but let’s just say that a long space journey gives rise to plenty of friction amongst the domestic staff and there may possibly even be a surprising romance in the offing,” he said in his plummy voice.

“The Dowager Countess of Granthamwill cope with the travails of Martian life in a marvellously waspish way,” continued Fellowes, whose wife is somehow related to the Queen.

“And Mrs Patmore’s attempts to secure a ready supply of meat and vegetables from the local Martian markets are at once hilarious and surprisingly moving.”

If the new movie proves successful at the box office, further Downton Abbey spin-offs are already in the pipeline.

trilogy

Other planned storylines will see the Crawleys travel back in time to do battle with dinosaurs, whilst the final film in the trilogy will reveal that Lady Mary has a high enough concentration of midichlorians to make her a true heir to the Jedi line, and will conclude with an epic battle between her and Darth Vader whilst Bates serves drinks.
