WHEN breakfast DJ Evans’s colleagues at Radio 2 spot him in the corridor, their hearts sink. That’s because they know that he is about to start badgering them to buy an Ascot United Super Soccer scratchcard. The former Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush host never goes anywhere without a sheaf of the fundraising raffle tickets in his pocket, flogging tens of thousands of them each week to people that he meets at BBC recordings, classic car shows and in the Groucho Club bar. Of course, the vast majority of the proceeds from the cards goes to fund his local football club, but not before Chris has creamed off a hefty commission.
