BRITON FERRY STEEL march on at the top of Thomas Carroll Insurance South Wales Cricket Associatio­n Division One after picking up a 78-run victory at Bronwydd.

Steve Devonald hit an unbeaten 73 as the visitors put 213-5 on the scoreboard from their 50 overs.

Rhys Norgrove then took 4-19 while Devonald capped a fine allround display with 3-16 as Bronwydd were bowled out for 134 in reply.

Nearest challenger­s Tata Steel bounced back from defeat at Briton Ferry in their previous outing with a comprehens­ive nine-wicket home win over Llanelli.

Nathan Ferrell took 6-27 off his 10-over spell to rip through the Lla- nelli batting as they were skittled out for just 76 with Michael Jones and Kelvin Bartle both picking up a couple of wickets apiece while Iwan Rees (50) offered resistance.

Rohan Herbert top scored with 36 while opening partner Martin Lewis finished unbeaten to see his side home in 16.2 overs and send Llanelli to their first defeat of the campaign.

Dafen are still unbeaten as they picked up their third win of the campaign as they beat winless bottom side Maesteg Celtic by six wickets.

Gethin Long helped himself to six wickets as the visitors were bowled out for 108 before opener Nick Davies struck seven fours in his undefeated 57 that saw Dafen to victory.

There were decent knocks from Dean Kriesher (80no) and John Jones (75) as Skewen recorded a thumping win by 153 runs at Cowbridge.

The pair helped Skewen post 273-6 off 50 overs before Marc Lewis (5-15) then starred with the ball as Cowbridge were bowled out for 120 in reply.

Luke Main’s four-wicket haul helped Gowerton to a narrow onewicket win at Llandysul.
