LLANDUDNO won the big top of the table battle in the North Wales League when they beat defending champions Menai Bridge by 11 runs.

The Seasiders who won six titles in seven years before relinquish­ing their crown to the Anglesey side won the toss,batted first and totalled 179 in 48 overs.

Kevin James hit a fine 74 off 73 balls – his highest score of the season – including six 6’s and four 4’s while Robin Smith scored 34 off as many balls.

Ashley Wood boasted his first five-wicket haul of the season taking 5-36 while most of the other damage was done by Zachary Ringrose who took 4-44.

The Champions then fell 11 runs short being dismissed for 168 in 48.2 overs. Dion Holden top scored with 50 before being run out while Gethin Roberts hit 40.

Jack Rimmington and Tom Thornton each took three wickets.

Also in the Premier Division Hawarden Park strolled to an eightwicke­t win over Pontblyddy­n.

Pontblyddy­n chose to bat first and were all out for 124 in 40 overs with only Phil Davies (33) making a notable contributi­on. Michael Wootton took 4-36 while Linton Terblanche captured 3-35.

Hawarden Park lost only two wickets in reaching 128 in 26.1 overs. Tom Ducker scored 74 including two sixes and nine fours.

Connahs Quay defeated Brymbo by four wickets in a high-scoring match.

Brymbo chose to bat first and totalled 263-6 off their 50 overs with Gareth Pugh contributi­ng 82 which included nine fours while Connor Davies scored his first half century being undefeated on 52.

Connahs Quay reached 264- 6 with David Fox producing a sensationa­l 135 off 110 balls.
