Glam aim to continue fine run

-

GLAMORGAN’S Aneurin Donald hailed his side’s bowlers after the Welsh county stormed to another victory in the T20 Blast by six wickets on Friday.

Glamorgan proved too strong for opponents Gloucestershire thanks to a couple of early wickets in the hosts’ innings as well as 48 not out from Donald and Colin Ingram’s blistering 64.

After the game Donald claimed it was those early wickets – with Dale Steyn removing Hamish Marshall and Timm van der Gugten getting rid of Michael Klinger – that set up the victory.

Donald said: “There are a lot of stats suggesting that if you take three wickets in the batting powerplay you normally go on to win. Fair play to the bowlers for setting it up for us early on.

“I was delighted to be there at the end. Bristol is a tough place to visit and we are delighted with the result.”

On his partnership with Ingram, which was the fulcrum on which the Glamorgan chase was built, Donald admitted his batting partner made life easy for him out in the middle.

The pair added 89 in eight overs to all but seal the win.

Donald added: “I love batting with Colin Ingram. He keeps hitting the ball out of the park so all I have to do is knock it around.”

Today, Glamorgan travel to Canterbury to take on Kent Spitfires in the Royal London One-Day Cup, where they will hope to continue their impressive form.
