LEWIS PARFITT smashed a century and then took a five-wicket haul to inspire in-form Newbridge to a 142-win over Sudbrook at the Welfare Ground – their third-straight win in Division One of the South East Wales Cricket League

Parfitt (116) hit 11 fours and three maximums, as he also shared a 151run stand for the third wicket with Ryan Watkins (72) while Kyle Jones also thrashed 31 off 13 balls as Newbridge posted 300-7 off their 50 overs.

Scott O’Leary took 3-69 with the ball for Sudbrook – who were then bowled out for 158 in reply.

Parfitt capped a stunning individual all-round display as he took 5-29 off eight overs with his medium-pacers while Tom Kinsey collected 3-22.

Meanwhile, Croesyceil­iog got back to winning ways after two straight defeats with a six-wicket victory at Abergavenn­y. David Clarke top scored with 43 as Abergavenn­y were bowled out for 177 batting first before the visitors reached their target in 27.3 overs with Tom Kear’s 65 leading the way while James Read scored an unbeaten 43.

In Division Two, Malpas won comprehens­ively by 119 runs at home against Sully Centurions.

Scott Archer (31) and Peter Mason (30) chipped in with valuable knocks as Malpas registered 188 all out batting first, with Santos Singh taking 3-36.

James Francis then took 6-25 to rip through the Sully batting as they could muster only 69 in reply, with Dave Griffiths bagging 4-4 from 2.2 overs.

In Division Three, the runs just keep on coming from Simon Veall as he smacked 160 to help Crumlin to a 74run win at Creigiau.

Veall’s innings included 17 fours and four sixes to help his side reach 277-6 batting first after being put in – before brother Ieuan Veall and Craig Lowther were both among the wickets as Creigiau were bowled out for 203 in reply.
