WALES WARMS UP FOR TROPICAL TUESDAY

- TOM HOUGHTON Reporter tom.houghton@walesonline.co.uk

TEMPERATURES are expected to soar as high as 30°C in some parts of Wales on Tuesday. It means the summer we have all been waiting for will finally arrive, and it will feel a world away from the cloudy, breezy conditions seen in Wales yesterday.

Now temperatures are expected to quickly rise over the next few days, and various places across Wales will see temperatures of 28°C on Tuesday, with temperatures in Monmouth expected to reach 30°C.

This being Wales, it is no surprise that, along with the sky-high temperatures, there will still be cloudy spells, the odd heavy shower and possible thunder storms.

According to the Met Office, today skies are set to remain cloudy across western parts of Wales, with patchy drizzle tending to become confined to the hills.

In the morning there will be a fair amount of fog, but it will mostly stay dry across the country. In the afternoon cloud will break in the east, allowing some warm sunshine, with temperatures reaching a maximum of 23°C.

Tomorrow will also see some fog in the early hours of the morning, and humidity will rise, with plenty of sunshine, very warm temperatures and perhaps the odd heavy shower.

The sky-high temperatures will then hit Wales on Tuesday, and it will be a day of sunshine with minimal cloud.

In the afternoon, temperatures are expected to hit 28°C in areas includ- ing St Asaph, Wrexham, Aberystwyth, Newtown, Builth Wells, Llandovery and Monmouth. Temperatures of 27°C will be felt in Bala, Barmouth, Carmarthen, Cardigan, Merthyr Tydfil and Cardiff.

There will also be the risk of more widespread thundery showers overnight and into Wednesday morning.

Then, showers are set to descend on most parts of Wales at some point, so be sure to make the most of the good weather on Tuesday.

It will come as good news to sun worshippers, as it follows a summer of changeable weather, with June and July so far littered with heavy rain and not much sun.

From Thursday, southern parts of the UK should see some decent spells of dry, bright and warm weather, with only temporary unsettled spells giving patchy rain and a slight chance of thunderstorms.

For northern parts of the UK, it will likely stay more changeable, with bands of rain, and occasionally strong winds arriving from the west, interspersed by interludes of drier and brighter conditions with isolated showers. The wettest conditions are most likely in the northwest.
