NEWPORT FUGITIVES are still top of South East Wales Cricket League Division One after an eight-wicket win at second from bottom Abergavenn­y.

Gareth Thomas bagged 4-40 while Roy Emmott (3-32) and Nathan Millichip (2-9) were also among the wickets at Avenue Road as the hosts were bowled out for 149 batting first after winning the toss.

Millichip then led the run chase for the Fugitives as he smashed 10 fours and six sixes in his unbeaten 88 which helped them cruise to a third straight victory and also completed a league double over the Beavers.

There were frustratio­n at Ynysanghar­ad Park as the scheduled second verses fourth clash between Pontypridd and Newbridge was cancelled because of the weather.

Elsewhere Blackwood Town were winners by 36 runs at home against bottom side Radyr.

The hosts were bowled out for 190 after being put in, with Dan Wilkinson thrashing nine fours and a six in his 53 while Callum Herring scored 36.

Peter Clegg took 3-14 for Radyr while Carl Ford bagged 2-35.

Ford then top scored with 34 in reply for Radyr as they were bowled out for 154, with Neil Reardon claiming 3-34 while brothers Richard and Rob Matthews bagged two wickets apiece.

Meanwhile a century from Michael Martin inspired Sudbrook to a 41-run victory at Usk.

Martin (104) and Ross Lewis (76) helped the visitors post 282-6 before Usk, despite 84 from George Lewis, were bowled out for 241 in reply.

Owen Watkins scored 53 while Scott O’Leary (3-40) and Ben Supple (3-46) were the leading wicket takers for Sudbrook.

In Division Two, pacesetter­s Malpas recorded a crushing 199-run win at Welsh Asians.

Lewis Morgan thrashed 19 fours and two sixes in his 136 while James Francis scored 55 as Malpas, who were put in, racked up 313 before being bowled out.

Malik Raza took 3-59 and then top scored with 39 for the hosts but they were bowled out for 114 in reply, with Rez Hassan and Francis bagging three wickets apiece.

Elsewhere in Division Two, half centuries from Raj Kumar and Lloyd Bruce helped bottom side Sully Centurions to a narrow one-wicket win over Rogerstone – their first win of the campaign.
