BLUEBIRDS RATED

-

DAVID MARSHALL Will be frustrated with Ibe’s goal after getting a strong hand to the ball, but the truth is he did well to reach it at all. Quick off his line, which will be important with the slightly higher line. 6 JAZZ RICHARDS A really encouraging performance. Richards was put under stern pressure from Brad Smith earlier on but grew into the game and became increasingly prominent in an attacking sense. 7 LEE PELTIER Another unfussy, uncomplicated performance from a player who looks like he has been playing centre-back at this level his whole career. 7 SEAN MORRISON This was Morrison’s first pre-season action and he looked understandably leggy, particularly up against the lively Benik Afobe. Will improve. 6 MATT CONNOLLY Didn’t put a foot wrong defensively and was again Cardiff’s most comfortably defender in possession. Having played the full pre-season programme he will be key as his partners come back to fitness. 7 FABIO Afobe and Ibe really targeted his flank and left him with an immense amount of defensive work to get through. A stern test but he looks a certain starter for the season ahead. 7 PETER WHITTINGHAM Arguably his quietest game of pre-season, but made some good diagonal balls and his ability to switch the play quickly is a biggest asset at the moment. 6 JOE RALLS (STAR MAN) The heartbeat of Cardiff’s work in possession, he made a number of good runs on the ball and worked hard to lift the tempo of the game. Very nearly equalised in the second half with a smart effort. 8 LEX IMMERS Looked a real threat in the second half and helped Cardiff to ask a few questions of the Cherries defence. Added responsibility means he isn’t getting as many chances. 7 ANTHONY PILKINGTON Worked tirelessly and did well to fashion a couple of half-chances. His half-volley in the first half was the best the Bluebirds’ produced. 6 FREDERIC GOUNONGBE Trollope will have been pleased to see him battle hard and not shirk a physical battle with Steve Cook. Didn’t have any real chances to add to his pre-season tally. 6
