Match ban and club fine after brawl

-

THE Football Association of Wales has handed one player a four-match ban and fined a club after a brawl broke out during a match last season.

An FAW disciplinary panel investigated the fight, which happened when Cefn Druids took on Caernarfon Town on April 30 and which was caught on video.

Cefn Druids were losing 7-0 at home at The Rock to the Canaries and their player Jack Graham had just been sent off.

Graham was charged by the FAW with a disciplinary offence of “committing an act and/or engaging in conduct around the field of play following his sending off which brought the game into disrepute”.

He was banned for four games and was fined £225.

Charges against Cefn Druids and Caernarfon Town of “failing to control their players” were both found not to have been proven.

But Caernarfon Town were fined £100, with the FAW finding their supporters had failed to “conduct themselves in an orderly fashion or fail to refrain from violence”.

An investigation by North Wales Police into the brawl is ongoing.

A spokesman for the force said: “Witnesses were interviewed in July, several have already been seen but there is obviously a large number.”

Anyone with information is urged to contact North Wales Police on 101 quoting reference number RC16061813. Alternatively, individuals with information can contact the Crimestoppers charity anonymously on 0800 555 111.
