FLYING COLORS

THOUSANDS of revellers turned out for The Color Festival in Cardiff yesterday – despite some concern about whether it would go ahead after headliners Basement Jaxx pulled out at the 11th hour.

The event at Splott Warehouse saw fans – many of whom were dressed in white – get covered in a riot of colour as they enjoyed music by a host of bands, including replacement headliner Chris Lorenzo.

A festival spokesman said: “Everyone is enjoying it – they’re really having a good time and getting very colourful. We sold over 3,000 tickets.”

Just days earlier it was announced that electronic duo Basement Jaxx x would no longer be performing.

It came after Ministry of Soundd announced that it would no longer r be hosting a stage at The Color Festi- val.

On its Twitter feed, Basement Jaxx x wrote: “Sorry Cardiff but we were e booked by @ministryofsound and their stage is cancelled.”

Festival organisers said accusations that it didn’t “uphold contractual obligations” were unfounded.

At the time, a festival spokesman said: “The Color Festival 2016 would like to clarify its position regarding the change of line-up to this year’s event, as well as unfounded accusations that we failed to uphold contractual obligations.

“We can categorically state that we upheld all contractual obligations including making payments in full and to all relevant parties. We have since proved this to all parties involved.”

Many fans were furious with the news though and some demanded refunds.

Andrew Griffiths wrote on Facebook: “Do we get compensation?”

While Jessica Dee’s post said: “When are we getting refunded then? Beyond a joke!”

But the event went ahead as planned until 2am with the new line-up in place.
