PONTYPOOL went top of the National Championsh­ip after they hit double figures in an eleven-try 69-17 demolition of Dunvant to maintain their 100 per cent record.

Dan Robinson was at the double for Pooler while Rhodri Usher, Josh Hurley, Gareth Rusby-Davies, Max Williams, Rhys Dyer, Ryan Harford, Matthew Jones – who also booted seven conversion­s – Marc Thorley and Kieran Meek also touched down in the romp.

Adam Williams-Parry and Richard Lewis replied for the visitors, with Lewis converting both scores as well as booting a penalty for newly-promoted Dunvant – who went down to their fourth defeat in five games.

It was a fifth win from five for Pontypool, who move one point above fellow high-flyers Tata Steel.

Tata Steel also made it five wins from five, although they did not take a bonus-point in their 17-12 home win over another newly-promoted side in Skewen.

Matthew Llewellyn scored twice with Ryan Davies also on the scoresheet while Liam Popham booted a conversion.

Anthony Buselli and Mark Harvey got the Skewen tries as they slipped to their second defeat of the cam- paign. Meanwhile Nick Gale scored 28 points as Narberth recorded a 33-6 victory at bottom side Glamorgan Wanderers to move up to third in the division with a fourth win from five games.

Gale’s haul included a hat-trick of tries, three penalties and two conversion­s while a penalty try completed their scorers.

Luke Fish booted two penalties for the Wanderers, as they still search for a first win since returning to the Championsh­ip.

Elsewhere in the Championsh­ip, Bedlinog beat Glynneath 20-10, Newcastle Emlyn ran out 20-0 home winners over Newbridge while Beddau recorded a 23-10 victory at Cardiff Met.

In One West Central, Aberavon Quins remain top of the pile after they made it four wins from five games with a narrow 16-15 home victory over Ystalyfera.

Jack Dacey got the only try of the contest with Marc Sheppard booting their other points, while Gareth Jones kicked five penalties for the visitors, who did at least leave with a losing bonus point.

Quins are five points clear of Maes- teg who also won by the slenderest of margins as they made it three wins from five games courtesy of a 9-8 victory at Seven Sisters.

Lawrence Howley’s three kicks from the tee won it for Maesteg while Daniel Challenger scored the game’s only try for Seven Sisters, which went unconverte­d, with Daniel Norton kicking a penalty.

In One West, braces from Shaun Pearce and Elliott Davies sent leaders Kidwelly on their way to a magnificen­t seven-try 43-3 home win over Penclawdd.

They lead Gorseinon, who are three points behind in second thanks to their fourth win from five games – a 13-8 win at Waunarlwyd­d.

Treorchy lead the way in One East Central and they were helped by three penalty tries in their 42-24 bonus-point home win over St Josephs to make it five from five.

Josh Lewis and Robert Jones were also on the scoresheet while Jordan Lloyd booted 17 points.

Dowlais also maintained their 100 per cent winning record and are four points behind after a 15-11 home win over Porth Quins.

Kyle Prosser and a penalty try were their scorers while Nathan Pritchard added the extras.

Rhydyfelin are out on their own in One East with five wins from five – the latest being a 36-12 home win over Abertiller­y BG.

Lewis Smith, Luke Rees, Scott Pritchard, Rhys Phillips and two penalty tries secured them the bonus point win.

In One North, tries from Arwel Thomas and Kalim Kelemete earned leaders Pwllheli their fifth straight win – a 14-8 home success over Bala.

Lower down the divisions, there were some big scores with a hatful of tries.

In Three West A, Pembroke racked up 16 tries as they made it three wins out of three with a crushing 98-0 win at St Davids – inspired by hat-tricks from outside centre Billy Wood and scrum-half Lewys Gibby.

Mark Jones and Craig Barnett were also on the treble trail as Milford Haven ran home 13 tries in a 79-0 home romp over Llangwm while St Clears scored eight times in a 51-10 win at Tregaron.

St Clears now lead that division and they take over from Cardigan, who went down to their first defeat of the campaign by a 15-12 margin at Neyland.
