The only downside to Morzine is that taxis are few and far between – you can’t just hail one down in the street to get home after a boozy night. You always have to book.
But the staff at the Alikat chalet are schooled in this, and are more than happy to arrange taxis before dinner if you feel like a night on the town.
Just be warned – don’t miss your return taxi. Some of our fellow guests found out the hard way that’s it’s a long walk back to the chalet in the dark.
Competing with the huge ski operators can be tough, but the Alikat experience certainly offered something with ‘je ne sais quoi’. The chalet had a lot more staff than generally expected with the big tour operators, and all of them, without exception, were friendly, approachable and professional.
More than half of the other guests at La Ferme à Jules were returning customers, which was a credit to the Alikat hospitality.
There was a personal feel to the chalet, and even with its luxurious feel, it was like a home from home.
