JAMIE ROBERTS has cellebrated turning 30 in typpically unselfish fashion. The nicest man in rugg by decided to donate 30 signed pairs of his own internationalal Test match-worn shorts to charii ties across Wales to mark his landmark birthday.

The Wales centre posted the e offer on Twitter, and a host of charities have since praised his s generosity.

The Harlequins giant wrote: e: “For my 30th, I’m donating 300 signed pairs of my @WelshRugbby Union test match worn shortsts from down the years to 30 Welshh charities. “Who’s keen?” His tweet received interest from dozens of charities across Wales and the rugby ace has now selected 30 good causes.

As a medicine graduate who is currently completing a Master’s degree at Cambridge University, Jamie picked a number of charities close to his heart, including many based on medical research and raising awareness of various illnesses and diseases.

Four of the charities are rugby-related, including the Ray Gravell Trust, which was established in memory of another Welsh Rugby Union centre who earned 23 caps for Wales and died nine years ago.

Charity for the homeless, Llamau, which supports vulnerable young people and women in Wales, was another chosen good cause.

A spokesman for Llamau said: “We’re so grateful to be one of the recipients of the shorts.

“We’re going to auction them off at our Illustrating Homelessness Auction next year to raise vital funds for the young people and vulnerable women that we support in Wales to help them leave homelessness behind. “Happy Birthday to Jamie!” Jamie celebrated his birthday with a group of friends at Celtic Manor’s country inn in Newbridge-on-Usk, and after a meal and a chocolate birthday cake they spent the evening at the resort’s Hunter Lodges.

The lodges, which overlook the golf course, come with use of the resort’s health club, which includes swimming pools, saunas, steam rooms and Jacuzzis, as well as a modern gym and fit- ness classes classes.

The 30 charities Jamie listed on Twitter to receive a pair of shorts are: Noah’s Ark, Hywel Dda, Llamau, Blood wise Wales, Alzheimer’s Society, Wales Deaf Rugby, Action on Smoking and Health (ASH) Wales, Cancer Research Wales, British Heart Foundation Wales, Tenovus Cancer Care Wales, Ray Gravell Trust, School of Hard Knocks, Ellie’s SDR Journey, St David’s Hospice Care, Active for Autism, Diabetes UK Wales, RNLI Penarth, Breast Cancer Care Wales, Hope House, St John Wales, Age Cymru, Stroke Association Wales, 2 Wish Upon, Shelter Cymru, Latch Wales, Wooden Spoon, NSPCC Wales, Ty Hafan, Follow Your Dreams and Help Hollie.
