- HELEDD PRITCHARD Reporter heledd.pritchard@walesonline.co.uk

AXED X Factor duo Brooks Way have spoken about the moment they were pulled from the live shows, saying it was “best to walk away”. Identical twins Josh and Kyle Brooks, 17, from Penarth were removed from the X Factor house and were pulled out of the competition just hours before the first live show following allegations made against Josh.

The brothers said: “With the circumstances that occurred we felt we couldn’t continue and felt it was best to walk away, leaving by mutual consent.

“We knew the circumstances could affect our position on the show.

“It was so hard to make that decision, especially after we worked so hard for our place and waited nearly two years to get to this point.”

Josh and Kyle appeared on the show in 2014 but they were unable to convince Louis Walsh to take them through to the live shows.

They said returning to the competition for a second time was a “huge amount of pressure”.

This time round Louis Walsh decided to take them a step further after they won him over with their performance of Nelly’s Just a Dream, in a tightly fought group category in Ibiza. “We knew we had to make it further than we did back in 2014,” they added. “We were so nervous to go back and make it to live shows.”

But following allegations which appeared in a Sunday newspaper relating to Josh and his ex-girlfriend, the twins did not appear on the live shows.

Josh and Kyle said the X Factor has been a big part of their lives ever since they appeared when they were 14 years old.

They said: “It’s given us the opportunity to do what we love. As well as being such an emotional rollercoaster, it’s also been a whole lot of fun, and a life experience we will never forget.

“We are very thankful and feel blessed

to be part of it. “The best moments were definitely meeting such great people, both the contestants and production team. We have created really close bonds and friendships that we will keep for the rest of our lives.” Now they are working in the studio and say they will be back in the new year. They added : “We’ve been singing ever since we could talk. Being twins, it was always such a natural thing for us. That’s why Brooks Way worked so well. “We are working in the studio, behind the scenes, and will be back in the new year. “We are very excited for what’s to come. Roll on 2017.”
