Jungle star Martin gets on Lamb’s goat

-

CAMPERS in I’m A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! have been split over how they feel about Homes Under The Hammer presenter Martin Roberts.

The daytime TV star has been a controversial character since entering the jungle, where he has been at the centre of disagreements with his fellow contestants.

In last night’s episode, viewers saw actor Larry Lamb lose his cool with Roberts, telling him to “pipe down”.

Roberts had been upset that his camp mates ignored his suggestion of drawing straws over who should take on a challenge and Lamb said to him: “Everyone assumes a role in it and your tendency if I may say...You go wallop in like that.

“The thing that ****** me off is someone saying ‘I’ll do that, I’ll do that’, just pipe down.”

Roberts took the criticism well and said: “Well thank you for sharing that with me, let’s hope I become a better human being as a result.”

Lamb replied: “There are 10 of the most amazing human beings here, amazing.

“Just sitting with them, they’ll make you a better human being, they certainly made me a better human being without any doubt at all.”

But many of the other campers admitted to being fond of Martin, including comedian Joel Dommett and Emmerdale star Adam Thomas.

Dommett said: “I just love Martin so much, he’s an unbelievable human being, he’s so funny, but when you watch Homes Under The Hammer you think he’s just a normal guy.

“I don’t like it when people shout at him, I feel protective over him, like a teddy bear.”

Mathematician Carol Vorderman, dancer Ola Jordan and Olympic hockey player Sam Quek also agreed that he was misunderstood.

Vorderman said: “I quite like Martin, you know. He’s not a bad person, I’m very honest with him but in a fond way when he starts going off.

“Hopefully it will even out a little bit, it sort of makes me think, right go Martin, go and win it now, go on boy, go on!”

However, when ex-footballer Wayne Bridge suggested that Roberts was harmless, Lamb said: “He’s harmless because he’s rendered harmless, he’s a lower middle class snob, that’s what he is.”

Broadcaster Danny Baker became the first person to leave camp this se- ries, as Roberts said: “I did not, in any way, shape or form, see that coming, no way.”
