WELSH CUP ROUND-UP CARMARTHEN Town and Llandudno were two Welsh Premier casualties in the third round of the Welsh Cup.

The Old Gold crashed out 3-1 at Caernarfon Town, with Jamie Breese bagging a brace for the Cymru Alliance side.

Breese gave his side a 54th-minute lead before Lewis Harling levelled for the visitors, with Breese scoring his second and Darren Thomas wrapped things up with a superb 73rd-minute effort.

Llandudno slumped to a 2-0 home defeat to Welsh League visitors Goytre.

Midfielder Kris Leek gave the visitors the lead in the 12th minute and Dan McDonald netted the second in the 67th minute.

Connah’s Quay almost joined the list of shock casualties but they staged a dramatic comeback to snatch a last-ditch 3-2 victory at home to Goytre United.

The Welsh League visitors led 2-1 with the game heading for stoppage time thanks to goals from ex-Welsh Premier stalwarts Tim Hicks and Dylan Blain. But Les Davies levelled and then snatched a 94th-minute winner to complete a hat-trick and break the visitors’ hearts.

Bala Town went behind to a goal from Matt James but a Lee Hunt hat-trick saw the Lakesiders comfortabl­y through following a 6-1 thumping of Caldicot Town.

The other Bala goals came from Mark Jones, Chris Venables and Mike Hayes.

Porthmadog were no match for Cardiff Metropolit­an University, who cruised into the last 16 with goals from an Adam Roscrow penalty, Charlie Corsby, Will Evans and Eliot Evans.

Rhyl hit six without reply at home to Penrhyncoc­h, substitute Rio Ahmadi claiming a late brace, while Aberystwyt­h beat Holywell Town 2-0 with goals from Kurtis March and Luke Borrelli.

Holders The New Saints won 3-0 away at Newtown, with Jon Routledge (two) and Scott Quigley on target.

Also into the fourth round are Haverfordw­est County, who overcame Afan Lido with a Steffan Williams goal.

Llanfair United join them after a 1-0 home win over Corwen, while Guilsfield played the entire second half with 10 men after Jake Cook was sent off but eased through with a 3-0 victory at Greenfield.

Veteran Danny Barton broke the deadlock early in the second half with Louis Irvine and Andy Ford also on target to book the visitors place in the next round.

Meanwhile, goals from Damien Ketley and Ben Maher gave Prestatyn Town an extra-time 2-1 victory over Holyhead Hotspur.

Llanelli Town fell behind to an early goal from Mike Evans but bounced back to trounce Ynysygerwn 5-1 at Stebonheat­h Park.

Luke Jones equalised on the half-hour mark and the plucky visitors held out until second half goals from Liam Samuel, Luke Morgan, Richard Lewis and the in-form Lee Trundle gave Llanelli a comfortabl­e passage.
