b OB Bradley revealed how emotional talks with hurting Swansea City players helped them come back fighting with their vital win over Sunderland. And the under-fire boss – whose second win in three games sees the Swans move out of the Premier League’s bottom three – said he had challenged his stars to show what pride means to them, claiming he got his answer in the pressure-easing win over the Black Cats.

Just one week on from a damaging 5-0 defeat to Tottenham, Swansea produced their best performance under Bradley, if not the season, as they brushed past relegation rivals and restored hope of a revival under the former US boss.

And Bradley revealed how it came after senior stars Angel Rangel and Leon Britton were among players who vowed to make amends for the humbling at White Hart Lane, a result that saw widespread criticism of both manager and players.

After a penalty from Gylfi Sigurdsson and a second-half brace from Fernando Llorente sealed successive home wins, Bradley said: “We got a good response after last week and the players deserve full credit.

“They used the word pride a lot when we talked this week. We asked what it looks like on the pitch; intensity, clean sheets – don’t just talk about it, turn it into something more.

“We were angry, we were frustrated, there was emotion, but it had to be challenged, it looks more like pride. We wanted them to understand what pride looked like.”
