CYMRU ALLIANCE leaders Prestatyn Town won the top of the table clash with Caernarfon Town 3-2 to extend their lead at the summit to nine points.

Prestatyn were in control after Jack Kenny gave them an early lead with Mike Parker bagging a second half brace. Jay Gibbs pulled one back for Caernarfon before Jamie Breese netted a late second.

Flint Town United moved into third place following a 2-1 triumph over Conwy Borough who took the lead through Danny Cross.

But a Kyle Smyth second half double gave the hosts the verdict while Caersws surrendered third spot after going down to a surprise 2-1 defeat at home to Mold Alex.

Iwan Lewis put Caersws ahead but two goals in two minutes from Alex Weatherby and Sam Richardson gave Mold he victory points.

Goals from Rhys Lloyd, Simon Smith and a Jack Chaloner spot kick gave Gresford Athletic a 3-1 victory over Llanfair United, Daniel Jones netting eight minutes before half time.

Holyhead Hotspur secured only a fourth win of the season with a 2-1 defeat of Guilsfield, Corey Jones and Gavin Shape on target with Louis Irvine replying for the visitors.

Bottom of the table Ruthin Town went down at home to a last gasp winner from Julian Williams as Porthmadog won 2-1, Chris Jones giving the visitors the lead before Iian Hughes equalised from the penalty spot.

Meanwhile, Penrhyncoch and Holywell Town drew 1-1, Liam James putting Penrhyncoch ahead before Shaun Tuck levelled from the penalty spot.

In the other game, goals from Tony Davies, Craig Pritchard and Alan Bull gave Denbigh Town a comfortable 3-0 triumph over Buckley Town.

TWO early second-half goals condemned Newport County to a fourth consecutive League Two loss, as they were beaten at Crawley Town, writes David Cook. The Exiles made a nightmare start at the Checkatrade.com Stadium when Crawley’s Jordan Roberts picked out James Collins with a left-wing cross in the third minute, and the unmarked forward headed past Joe Day to open the scoring.

Midfielder Joss Labadie’s central effort levelled the scores almost 20 minutes later, which deflected off Crawley’s Josh Yorwerth and wrong-footed goalkeeper Glenn Morris.

Graham Westley’s team seemed to start well in the second half, as half-time substitute Rhys Healey had a shot saved with only the keeper to beat.

A cross into the box then proved to be effective once again for the home side, as Crawley captain Jimmy Smith found Yorwerth in the box, who headed the ball under Day to give his team the lead for the second time.

It was just three minutes before the lead was doubled, with Smith calmly finishing after an attempted clearance.

Crawley’s Jordan Roberts then missed an open goal following a save from Billy Clifford’s shot, before Josh O’Hanlon hit the bar for the visitors.

There was no respite when Newport were awarded a penalty in second-half stoppage time, but Healey’s spot kick hit the bar.
