Former pop star’s pooch appeal
FORMER 1990s pop star Abz Love is appealing for help to give his dog emergency surgery.
The ex-member of boy band 5ive, who now lives in Wales, said dog Precious broke her leg in December after jumping down from the sofa.
But Abz said the rescue dog, which has been part of the family since she was taken in at just over a year old, had her injury misdiagnosed, causing the break to heal awkwardly.
Abz said: “The vet told us that Precious’ injury was in her shoulder and that there was not much that could be done for that joint as it’s awkward to get to. We were offered X-rays but advised that it was a risk on account of the anaesthetic and her age.
“Our new vet is not sure exactly what is wrong but he believes there to be a break or severe dislocation or tendon damage. The injury looks complex so he has referred us to a specialist surgeon.”
Abz’s fiancée Vicky added: “Excess donations will be given to the animal home where I rescued her from 15 years ago, and a small local rehoming centre here in Wales to help towards their running costs.”
The couple live with their five dogs, including Precious, several chickens and other animals at a smallholding in Carmarthenshire.
Their home recently featured on the television show Country Strife: Abz on the Farm.
They are now appealing on “go fund me” for help financing the operation and to get Precious out enjoying daily walks in the Brechfa forest again with the rest of the pack.
Vicky said: “Precious is the best dog in the world, we call her ‘the duchess’ because she’s the queen of our pack.k E Every nightih at 8 8pm sheh barks at us to make her dinner, she also greets me every morning with a huge smile and a happy sneeze. She’s our baby and always will be.”
