PONTYPOOL’S charge towards the National Championsh­ip title looks like it’s going to take some stopping after they recorded win number 17 for the season after hitting Skewen for six in a 40-17 success.

Clayton Gullis was at the double on the road for Pooler as they kept their 100 per cent win record intact with Josh Hurley, Alex Watkins, Tom Hancock and Aaron Quick also on the scoresheet.

Matthew Jones added five conversion­s to put the seal on victory, while Anthony Buselli and Mark Henry replied for Skewen, with Buselli and James Ball sharing duties from the tee.

Pontypool are 16 points clear of nearest challenger­s Tata Steel, who themselves put Bedlinog to the sword 36-7.

Steffan Stone, Jordan Hawkins, Scott Malone, Jakob Williams and Kristian Jones got the Tata tries, with Jones also adding four conversion­s and a penalty.

Richard Rees got the Foxes’ consolatio­n try, converted by Steve Lang.

Tata are now a point clear of Narberth in third, with the latter going down to a narrow 29-28 reverse at Beddau. Jack Dando’s brace alongside sole efforts from Jordan Goodwin and Carl Lewis – and three conversion­s and a penalty from Hywel Chatham – won it for Beddau.

Narberth scored four tries of their own to at least bag two bonus points.

Dan Smith, Ollie Reyland, Nick Gale and Gethin Gibby ensured they wouldn’t leave empty handed, with Jonathan Rogers adding a penalty and a conversion along with a Gale penalty.

Elsewhere Dan Davies notched 15 points to inspire Newcastle Emlyn’s 20-10 win at basement boys Dunvant, with a penalty try also on the scoresheet.

Mitchell Ford scored for Dunvant, who actually led 10-7 at half time. He converted his own try while Sam Evans landed a drop goal.

Glynneath were 20-11 home winners over Cardiff Met thanks to tries from Jordan Griffiths and Stuart Leach, with Corey Jenkins booting two conversion­s and two penalties.

Luke Northmore replied for the Students, while Miles Moorhouse added two penalties.

The game between Newbridge and Glamorgan Wanderers was postponed because of a waterlogge­d pitch.

One North leaders Nant Conwy made it 13 wins out of 14 with a 35-5 victory at Mold. Gwion Jones, Carwyn Ellis, Cai Jones, Robin Glyn and a penalty try secured victory for Nant with Delwyn Jones converting all five tries.

Pwllheli are seven points behind the leaders with a game in hand after they annihilate­d Colwyn Bay 95-0.

Dafydd Annwyl’s four-try salvo led the way while Robin Hughes-Jones helped himself to a hat-trick.

One West leaders Kidwelly were given an almighty score at home against second from bottom Whitland before running out eventual 4119 winners. The visitors led 19-10 at the break before Kidwelly rallied in the second half to record their 12th win from 14 league games.

Kidwelly remain two points clear of Llanelli Wanderers, who won 31-21 with a bonus-point at bottom side Gowerton.
