BARRY Town took a gigantic stride towards a return to the Welsh Premier League yesterday when they strolled to an emphatic 3-0 victory over Port Talbot Town at the GenQuip Stadium.

On target for Barry were Curtis Watkins, Louis Gerrard from the penalty spot and Jordan Cotterill.

It is a result that keeps the Steelmen on top of the first division, one point clear of Gwent outfit Goytre who cruised home 4-1 against Undy Athletic.

Dan McDonald, Luke Foster, Lewis Summers and Josh Brown were the Goytre marksmen.

Haverfordwest County kept alive their outside chances of the title with a 3-1 New Bridge Meadow triumph over Cwmbran Celtic. Greg Walters bagged a brace and Ricky Walters also found the net while Josh Bull converted a penalty for Celtic.

Haverfordwest played almost half the game with only 10 men after the dismissal of Matthew Broome for two yellow cards.

Penybont moved into fourth spot with a 5-1 drubbing of Risca United 5-1 courtesy of four goals from Joe Hopkins and one by Marcus Griffiths.

Llanelli marched on towards the second division title with a 4-0 romp over Aberbargoed Buds on the 3G pitch at Ystrad Mynach.

Nearest challengers Briton Ferry Llansawel also won beating Newport City 3-2 thanks to a last gasp penalty by Steve Davey. Also on the scoresheet for Ferry were Warren Hudson and Tom Da Silva.

Meanwhile Third Division leaders STM Sports lost only their third game this season when Chepstow Town beat them 1-0 courtesy of a late Jason Thorn goal.
