Kit’s a knockout! Fan designs shirts for women

-

A WALES football fan has created her own clothing range for women, after getting fed up with wearing men’s replica shirts.

Haley Evans – known as Hales – has been following the Dragons home and away since the 1990s and she witnessed their incredible performance at Euro 2016 in France.

But loyal Haley, from Cardiff, became frustrated with the lack of official replica Wales shirts for women, which left her and other female fans having to wear men’s shirts to matches.

So the 32-year-old has created her own online clothing business, feWales.

Launched online in November, the business is still in its early stages, but a number of designs are now available, pay- ing homage to Joe Ledley’s beard and Chris Gunter’s “chin up” gesture.

Haley, of Riverside, said: “I just got fed up about not being able to get anything Welsh football-related in women’s sizes. I mentioned my idea for a clothing range to my other half on a flight back from Austria and he said I should just do it.

“My friends said I should go for it and I thought, ‘I have got nothing to lose,’ and so far it has been well received.”

Among items available on the feWales website are T-shirts and hoodies all in sizes suitable for women and girls.

Haley said: “We’re catering for the female members of the Red Wall and we try to keep the designs light-hearted and centred on the players.

Complaints were raised by fans and women players last year over the fact Wales’ kit manufacturers Adidas had not produced a shirt for women.

Wales’ women’s team had to play in men’s shirts – despite the fact the sportswear giant had produced women’s shirts for Germany, Spain and Sweden.
