Leave it out, says EastEnders star’s ‘twin’

-

A MAN labelled as EastEnders character Phil Mitchell’s “secret twin” in ITV’s general election coverage has said he doesn’t see the resemblance.

Eagle-eyed viewers watching the lunchtime news on Tuesday after Theresa May called the June 8 election took to Twitter to compare a man in the crowd to soap actor Steve McFadden.

That man was Mike Evans, from Flint, Flintshire, who is well-known for his work trying to save the town’s community hospital.

Mike was visiting London for the day and decided to take a look at the media village outside the Houses of Parliament when he found himself in the background of the ITV news report.

Viewers became convinced that Mike was actually Phil, saying: “Looking forward to getting Phil Mitchell’s take on the snap election.”

Mike told the Daily Post: “I was in Whitehall and watched Theresa May make her announcement through the gates at Downing Street and then I went over to Parliament Square to look at the floral tributes that had been left for PC Keith Palmer.

“The comparison to Phil Mitchell is bemusing but I don’t see the likeness myself.”

He does admit, though, he was once asked for an autograph on a previous visit to the capital.

Phil Mitchell, to the best of our knowledge, is still in Walford.
