BRONWYDD continued their perfect start in Division One of the South Wales Cricket Associatio­n as they brushed aside Briton Ferry Steel with an eight-wicket victory.

Ferry batted first but were all out on 66 after just 21.3 overs with Jason Hughes top scoring with 21. But Tom Gleeson managed 4-16 as Bronwydd looked to take control.

Brother George Gleeson then hit 19 as Bronwydd caught them with 67-2. Oli Furneaux recorded 21 with Ruairi Willis scoring 17 as the leaders made it four wins from four.

Newly-promoted Gorseinon enjoyed a good day batting as they scored 186-4 to seal a six-wicket victory over struggling Llandysul.

After being put in to bat, Rhidian Harris struck 53 with Llewelyn Hughes (39), Ben Edkins (32) and captain Andrew Edwards (32) helping Llandysul reach 181, with Tom Clarke and Matthew Carey taking seven wickets between them.

But the trio of Ashley Pass (60 not out), Kieran Howells (54) and Christophe­r Morgan (43) helped Gorseinon to victory.

Gowerton were also on form as they racked up a 28-run triumph over last season’s runners-up Dafen Welfare.

John Bradshaw (45) and Adam Wright (43) led the way after being put in to bat with Callum Evans adding 25 as they finished on 1769.

In reply, David Williams scored 45 but Dafen couldn’t catch Gowerton as they were eventuall bowled out for 148 with Evans, Christophe­r Mason and Mathew Mason all taking three wickets.

Elsewhere, early pace-setters Aberdare and Llanelli clashed with Corie Sewell hitting 44 to help Aberdare enjoy a 76-run victory while 84 from John Hubschmidt helped Cowbridge defeat last year’s Divison Two champions Merthyr Tydfil by 38 runs.
