TIM Hicks scored 59 as Carew defeated champions Haverfordw­est in the first division of the Pembrokesh­ire League.

Haverfordw­est batted first and reached 123-7 with Simon Holliday contributi­ng 54 and Nitin Matthias 16.

Shaun Whitfield was Carew’s most successful bowler, taking 4-46 as they reached their target with 4 wickets to spare, Hicks being supported by Tom Scourfield who made 18.

Promoted Kilgetty gained a narrow 16 run victory over visitors St Ishmaels. Kilgetty batted first and scored 134-9 with leading contri- butions from Kurtis Marsh (31) and Tom Lewis (27) with Andrew Pawlett taking 3-18. In reply St Ishmaels were bowled out for 118 with Jonathan Pawlett making 33 and Andrew Palmer scoring 22. Anthony Bevan took 4-18 and Kurtis Marsh 4-32.

Lawrenny fought out a draw in an enthrallin­g match with Pembroke after opening with an impressive 223,James Buckle top scoring with 53 ably supported by Steve Lewis who hit a fine 46.

Sam Davies was Pembroke’s most successful bowler with 4-53.

In reply Pembroke scored 115-7, Jack Harris top scoring with 46.

Pembrokesh­ire leaders Creselly came off second best at Neyland who batted first and scored 171 with Nathan Banner leading the way with an impressive 57.

In reply Creselly scored 128-8 with Phil Williams top scoring with 35. Andrew Miller was Neyland’s most successful bowler taking 4-27.

In the top of the table battle in Division Two Llangwm gained a narrow three-run victory over Narberth. Luke Brock with 2-8 was in sparkling bowling form for Llangwm.
