MENAI Bridge, unbeaten leaders of the North Wales League extended their advantage at the top of the Premier Division when they easily brushed aside Chirk by nine wickets yesterday.

Chirk batted first, having won the toss, and were dismissed for 247 with Steve Kelshaw hitting 82 and Gareth Partridge 80.

Zachary Ringrose took 4-50 and Paul Lucas had the same figures.

Menai Bridge were in no mood to allow a score like that to faze them and they reached 248 for the loss of only one wicket.

Jack Gower with his maiden century scored an unbeaten 114 including 20 fours and one six, while Dion Holden contribute­d 77 and Danny Creek 48.

Defending champions Llandudno suffered a rare defeat, going down by 48 runs to St Asaph.

St Asaph chose to bat first and scored 230-7, with William Ryan hitting a magnificen­t unbeaten 80 which included two fours and four sixes.

Llandudno managed only 182, with Rhydian Morgan the top scorer on 39. Alex Baker took three wickets for 40 runs.

Bangor overcame Brymbo by five wickets.

Pwllheli, unbeaten leaders of the first division, trounced Gwersyllt Park by 10 wickets.

Gwersyllt Park chose to bat but were sent back for a paltry 75, with Stuart Watkins the only notable scorer with 35.

Martin Jones took 4-11.
