THE combined name for Caesar’s Palace and Carousel Amusements has been entertaining the families that visit Barry Island since the 1950s, no matter what season it is. With a separate section for the serious adult gamers to test out their skill and nerve, these family-run arcades are the best that the Island has to offer.

They are run by Jamie and Lewis Crole, and this father-and-son dynamic duo have brought a new look to the arcades ready for the summer season of 2017.

With classic-style ticket payout machines that offer some of the very best prizes available on the Island – the more tickets you have, the better the prize will be – Amusement World also offers an over-18s section that houses the latest gaming machines with a jackpot of up to £500. For those who visit this section you will also be treated to sandwiches, snacks, WHY not come and visit Brecon Mountain Railway for a great day out?

We are located just off the Heads of the Valleys Road, about three miles north of Merthyr Tydfil. Follow the mountain railway signs from the A470 and A465.

Brecon Mountain Railway was built on part of the abandoned Brecon and Merthyr Railway, which was originally built in 1859 and finally closed in 1964. We re-opened to passengers in June 1980. The line now runs from Pant to Torpantau, high in the Brecon Beacons.

Travel behind a vintage steam locomotive in one of our allweather observation coaches and admire the views.

The railway climbs steeply to Torpantau, where the train stops for you to take in the views. You may alight here and return by a hot and cold drinks, all free of charge to those who play.

The Crole family want to help return Barry Island to its fun-filled glory days – as the jewel in the crown of holiday and day-trip later train. On the return trip the train stops at Pontsticill, where there is a small steam museum, lakeside café, picnic area, children’s play area and beautiful walks around the Taf Fechan reservoir, where again you may alight and return on a later train if you wish.

On your return to Pant visit our workshops, where old steam locomotives are restored and new ones are built, buy a souvenir of your visit in our gift and souvenir shop, or enjoy a bite to eat in our licensed restaurant.

We have facilities for disabled passengers including ramps, toilets and a carriage designed to accommodate wheelchairs.

We have reduced fares for parties and school visits and special events running throughout the year, including Father Christmas. destinations, and to keep improving and investing in both Carousel and Caesar’s Palace so that they are revered as the best amusement arcades around.
