JUDE,13, WOWS TALENT JUDGES
ATEENAGER from Port Talbot wowed the judges on top telly talent show The Voice Kids - with pop star Danny Jones putting him through to the next round.
Welsh warbler Jude Landeg belted out Bruno Mars classic Treasure on the Saturday night ITV show, impressing the McFly frontman enough for him to press his button and spin round on one of those iconic red chairs.
The pint-sized pop star turned up to audition with his mum and auntie, who watched from the sidelines with host Emma Willis,
He said: “My auntie Nicola is a professional singer and goes around South Wales doing gigs. Sometimes I go with her.”
After belting out the track, Danny turned round mid-performance to the delight of Jude – and his mum and auntie, who burst onto the stage.
Jude said after his performance: “It was just amazing. I felt so nervous and then I just came out here,” but Danny said: “You didn’t sound nervous one bit.”
Adding: “You literally controlled my emotions and my feelings. It was incredible.
“It’s so cool when you just turn around and see the whole package.”
Afterwards he told Jude: “I’m so excited to work with you, man. You’re gonna smash it.
Jude, 13, is a pupil at Fame Factory Theatre School in Port Talbot and clearly had no trouble in winning over the screaming crowds in the first episode of The Voice spin-off show.
The new programme lets kids between seven and 14 audition in front of a panel – made up of Will.i.am, Pixie Lott and Danny Jones – before turning around to offer feedback and encouragement mance.
And rather than a record deal the winner will bag a trip to Disneyland Paris and a £30,000 scholarship.
Now he’s through to the next round, he’ll have to battle it out to fight for one of 12 places each judge needs to make up their teams.
The Voice Kids is on ITV1 on Saturday nights. after each perfor-
