CURRENT champions Llandudno drew at league leaders Menai Bridge in the North Wales Premier League in a rain-affected match reduced to 22 overs, writes Lisa Stenstrom.

The visitors posted 144-7 after being put into bat; Daniel Evans 36, Rhydian Morgan 30 and Jack Rimmington 25 their leading scorers. Dion Holden took 3-39.

In response, the Bridge struggled initially but contributi­ons from Gethin Roberts 32, Gethin Long 24 and Gerallt Roberts 19 not out took them to 121 before the overs ran out, resulting in a draw.

St Asaph chalked up their fourth win on the bounce with a comprehens­ive 198-run defeat of Con- RAIN decimated the programme in the South Wales Cricket Associatio­n with only two games across the entire top four divisions managing to get going before both were abandoned.

One of those was in Division One at the Graig between Briton Ferry Steel and Llanelli but, having already been reduced to 45 overs a side, the match was finally abandoned after 35 overs of the first innings.

Visitors Llanelli, having lost the toss, were on 160-3 after being inserted with Iwan Rees hitting an unbeaten half century for them.

Bronwydd remain top of that division while Morriston lead the way in Division Two which was ALL teams in the Pembrokesh­ire Cricket League had the weekend off with the bad weather ensuring a complete wash out.

It means Carew, who were due to face Whitland, remain on top of Division One, 33 points ahead of reigning champions Haverfordw­est. The leaders will now have to wait until next week to try and extend their lead when they face third-placed Cresselly. Meanwhile, Haverfordw­est are set to travel to mid-table St Ishmaels.

At the other end of the table, Pembroke remain rooted to the bottom but will hope to climb the table when the take on fellow strugglers Johnston next week while Lawrenny, who are third from bottom, will face Kilgetty. nah’s Quay at Elwy Grove Park.

Connah’s Quay must be ruing their decision to field as the St Asaph batsmen piled on the runs finishing on 238-8.

William Ryan was outstandin­g, posting his highest ever score of 117 including 14 fours, while Paul Fleming hit a solid 47. Darren Leach returned figures of 6-47.

Connah’s Quay were quickly dispatched for a mere 40 runs due mainly to a stunning bowling performanc­e by Alex Baker who took seven wickets completely washed out.

One game did at least start in Division Three and it was the top of the table clash between Baglan and leaders Briton Ferry Town.

After being put in, visitors Briton Ferry were on 131-3 when the heavens opened again and finally put an end to proceeding­s after 38 overs of their innings.

Yakoob Ali was going nicely on 76 not out.

Division Four, which is currently led by Bronwydd’s second string, was also a washout. along

The remaining fixture for next weekend will see Neyland take on fourth-placed Whitland. It was the same result in the lower leagues so Llangwm keep their lead at the top of Division Two while Hook are two points ahead of Cresselly II in Division Three. In Division Four, Narberth II are 40 points clear at the top while Laugharne keep hold of their lead at the top of Division Five for another week.

It was a similar story in the West Wales Conference, with the conditions putting paid to any hope of cricket.
