WEST Wales Cricket Conference leaders Aberystwyt­h beat UWA Commoners by 21 runs in the final of the West Wales Cricket Conference T20 competitio­n.

Ceri John hit 37, as Aberystwyt­h batted first, to help his side finish on 142-7 after their allocation of overs was completed. The Commoners did fight back with Rakesh Bahatia striking 57 but they could only manage to reach 121-8 after their 20 overs, which saw Aberystwyt­h claim victory.

Aberystwyt­h had earlier beaten Aberaeron by six wickets in the semi-final. Aberaeron reached 120-7 but Aberystwyt­h came roaring back and hit the target with five overs to spare.

In the other last-four tie, UWA Commoners enjoyed a truly dominant 10-wicket victory over Talybont.
