-

NEWPORT County manager Mike Flynn saw his side claim a 4-3 success over Swindon Supermarine in a thrilling pre-season encounter at the Webbswood Stadium.

New signing Lamar Reynolds gave fans plenty to get excited about when he ran past a number of defenders before firing County into the lead.

An own goal from Jack Alexander put County in control before Connor Thompson pulled the Supermarine back into the game just before the break.

A trademark free kick from the returning Robbie Wilmott extended County’s lead but TJ Bohane matched that with a superb free kick of his own as the hosts clawed their way back in the game.

Marlon Jackson restored County’s two-goal lead but Ryan Campbell hit back instantly, however, County held on to seal the win.

Vanarama National League outfit Wrexham continued their preseason with another win, this time beating Stafford Rangers 2-1.

Former County striker Scott Boden netted his first goal for the Dragons inside the first minute. The forward collected James Jennings’ long ball before chipping the advancing Adam Whitehouse.

But Stafford Rangers were level within three minutes with Bradley Fortnam-Tomlinson scoring from the spot.

Wrexham continued to create chances and they retook the lead seven minutes before half time with full-back Jennings slotting the ball home to secure victory.

Elsewhere, Colwyn Bay slipped to a 1-0 defeat to Curzon Ashton while Merthyr Town fell a surprise 3-1 defeat to Cambrian & Clydach.

In other action, Llanelli Town scored two late goals to secure a dramatic 4-3 victory over Aberystwyth Town.

Lee Trundle found the net twice for the Reds but goals from Malcolm Melvin, Cledan Davies (penalty) and Jonny Spittle looked set to give Aber the win.

However, Llanelli skipper Lee Bevan netted an equaliser on 89 minutes before James Loveridge supplied the winner at the death.

New boy Andrai Jones bagged a brace as Bala Town saw off Caernarfon Town 4-2. Les Davies and Mike Hayes also netted for the Welsh Cup winners while Gareth Edwards and Nathan Craig were on target for Caernarfon.

Danny Thomas, Matthew Thomas, Liam Thomas and Liam Griffiths helped Carmarthen Town to a 4-1 victory over Goytre United while Newtown beat a Shrewsbury XI 4-1 thanks to a brace from Neil Mitchell and further strikes from Jamie Reed and Craig Williams.

Prestatyn Town came from behind to beat a Tranmere Rovers XI 2-1 while Barry Town United and Goytre played out a 1-1 draw.
