How they rated

- BY ANDREW GWILYM

LUKASZ FABIANSKI

Did brilliantly to save Paul Pogba’s header but had no chance with follow-up or any of the other goals. Solid aside from a few nervy moments with the ball at his feet.

KYLE NAUGHTON

Had a more comfortable afternoon than he did at Southampton last weekend. Got forward to good effect on several occasions, although end product was not always what was required.

KYLE BARTLEY

Brought in as Clement opted for three centre-halves and had a solid enough afternoon. Made one excellent challenge to prevent Marcus Rashford going in on goal, but was beaten by Paul Pogba for the header which led to the goal.

ALFIE MAWSON

One errant defensive header aside, the 23-year-old was on fine form. Confident on the ball and able to read the game with increasing authority. Another stand-out display from the former Barnsley man.

MARTIN OLSSON

Enjoyed the chance to get forward more regularly in his wing-back role, and linked well with Tom Carroll on the left side, particularly during the second half. Solid enough in his defensive duties too

LEROY FER

Covered the ground but was loose in possession on occasions when Swansea could desperately have done with some respite. Looked to be visibly tired during the closing stages and was caught dallying in build-up to Lukaku’s goal.

ROQUE MESA

Some good moments during the early going but also looked a bit uncertain at times as to who he should be picking up, but he grew into the game well and it was a surprise to see him come off as he began to get a hold on the game. A promising start.

TOM CARROLL

Found the sheer physicality of the United midfield hard to handle at times, but learnt how to handle it better as the game moved on and was heavily involved as Swansea sought a way back into the game. Huge effort defensively.

JORDAN AYEW

Frustrating, so frustrating. Worked hard and had good moments, but tended to follow them with poor decisions. A costly delay in playing in his strike partner and lack of movement in promising situations was noticeable. Hit bar with mis-hit cross.

TAMMY ABRAHAM

Will need better service if Swansea are to see more from him. Always alive to opportunities although caught on his heels a couple of times. But Swansea rarely looked to send him in behind United defence and direct approach does not play to his strengths.
