PEMBROKESHIRE

-

CAREW eased to a 10-wicket victory over Whitland to stay top of Division One in the Thomas Carroll Pembrokeshire Cricket League heading into the final day of the season.

Whitland batted first but could only muster 43 as Tom Davies (6-20) and Rhys Davies (4-17) combined to bowl them out.

Tom Scourfield then hit an unbeaten 31 to guide Carew to a simple victory on 44-0.

But Cresselly ensured the fight for the title will go down to the final day with an eight-wicket victory over Kilgetty.

Ross Hardy (36), Kyle Marsh (26) and Ian Poole (25) led the way for Kilgetty before they were bowled out on 167 with Tom Arthur taking four wickets.

But an unbeaten 81 from Adam Chandler added with Dan Cherry’s 58 no saw Cresselly take the victory on 168-2.

Kilgetty’s defeat also means the fight for survival will go down to the last day.

Already-relegated Pembroke (51) lost to Neyland (53-2) by eight wickets but Johnston beat Haverfordwest by nine wickets to keep their hopes of staying up alive.

Ashley James led the way for Haverfordwest with 21 but Nathan James (3-17) helped bowl them out on a mere 81.

And Dan Sutton smacked 39 as Johnston set up a thrilling finish on the final day to win on 82-1.

Elsewhere, St Ishmaels (64-0) beat Lawrenny (60) by 10 wickets.
