THE North Wales Cricket League Division One title race looks set to go down to the wire after leaders Bangor saw their game cancelled and their nearest challengers both won.

Bangor led the table by 20 points at the start of the day but with their game with Llanrwst cancelled, it allowed their title rivals to close the gap with only a few weeks of the season left.

And Menai Bridge took advantage of Bangor’s situation as they sealed a seven-wicket victory over Denbigh.

Harrison Jones hit 35 as Denbigh were put in to bat. Jackson Braddock-Pajo added 24 while Tom Schrimshaw chipped in with 23 before they were skittled out on 149, with Dion Holden taking 3-20.

And Holden steered Menai Bridge to victory with 68 while Jack Gower hit a useful 57 as they claimed victory on 151-3 to move 10 points behind Bangor, who they play on the final day of the season.

And St Asaph kept up the pressure with an eight-wicket win over Chirk.

Nicholas Flack top scored for Chirk with 21 before they were bowled out on just 69 with David North enjoying a stunning sevenwicket haul.

And Nathanael Scott (31) and Matthew Ryan (26) helped St Asaph claim the win on 71-2.

Elsewhere, Brymbo (205-2) beat Connah’s Quay (204) by eight wickets and Hawarden Park (152-5) saw off Mochdre (85) by five wickets.
