CARDIFF’S hopes of lifting the South Wales Premier Cricket League title were dented as they conceded a winning draw at rivals Newport.

Newport batted first and were bowled out for 200, Imran Hassan top scoring with 76 and Mark Wallace making 56.

Connor Brown took 3-24 and Prem Sisodiya 3-34 before Cardiff finished on 152-9 in reply, opener Alex Milton scoring an unbeaten 79 and Brown 22.

Josh Aston was the pick of the Newport bowlers with 4-28 while Callum Taylor took 3-30.

Pontarddul­ais defeated visitors Bridgend Town by 48 runs after batting first and posting a total of 192-8.

Lucas Carey top scored with 70 while Gary Arrowsmith made 43, with Tom Pearce taking 3-20 and Jeremy Lawlor 3-23.

Bridgend were then bowled out for 144, Sam Pearce top scoring with 28 with Carl Roberts taking 5-25 and Luke Rees 3-30.

Ynysygerwn beat Port Talbot Town by 55 runs after batting first and posting a total of 225-7, Darren Thomas agonisingl­y close to his century as he finished on 99 not out.

Ynys the bowled out the visitors for 170, Mark Cox top scoring with 40 with Mish Dalavaye taking 3-30

That win for Ynys condemned Penarth to relegation after they went down to an 8 wicket defeat at home to Neath.

Penarth batted first and were skittled out for just 112 before Neath made 113-2 in reply.

Ammanford secured a winning draw at Mumbles after batting first and making a total of 150-9 off their 50 overs.

Jack Murphy made 37, with Ryan Aingworth taking 4-26 and Dan Roberts 3-21.

Mumbles then made 147-9 in reply, Gavin Williams top scoring with 39 while Ieuan Rosser made an unbeaten 37 with Alun Evans taking 3-27 and Matthew Roberts 3-33.
