RHYS Webb has revealed he’s in negotiations with the Welsh Rugby Union and the Ospreys over a new contract.

The Wales and Lions scrum-half, who sat out Ospreys’ Guinness PRO14 match with last season’s finalists Munster yesterday, is allegedly on the wanted list of Europe’s Champions Cup holders Saracens and money-laden French club Toulon.

Webb’s National Dual Contract with the WRU and his home region Ospreys expires at the end of the season.

Reports in the French press claimed he wanted to join Toulon but the three-times Champions Cup win- ners are also understood to have their sights set on Bordeaux-Begles scrum-half Yann Lesgourgues, who is the hottest prospect in France.

Webb said: “It’s a different club every day in the paper.” And he disclosed: “I’m working closely with the WRU at the moment so, hopefully, we can get things sorted.”

Asked if that was by remaining in Wales and with the Ospreys, Webb replied: “Yes.”

The 28-year-old’s agent Derwyn Jones, the former Wales lock, claimed: “His sole focus is to play as well as he can for the Ospreys and, if selected, for Wales in the coming months.”

Webb has touched down seven times in 28 appearances for Wales and once for the Lions in two outings off the bench against New Zealand to become one of British and Irish rugby’s most valuable commodities.

“A player has to make a detailed assessment of what’s best for himself, his family and also take into account where he is in his career and exactly what are the advantages and disadvantages of making a move or staying put,” added Jones.

Webb’s half-back partner at the Ospreys, Dan Biggar, leaves the Liberty Stadium at the end of the campaign for Aviva Premiership Northampton Saints.
