LLANDUDNO moved three points clear at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League with a narrow 1-0 victory over newly promoted Barry Town United at the Giant Hospitality Stadium.

Mike Williamson claimed the only goal of the game with a volley on the stroke of half time as Llandudno extended their lead at the summit and continued their superb start.

Meanwhile at the bottom, Carmarthen Town produced a huge shock to thrash Bala Town 4-0 and claim their first points of the new season.

Newtown were also in freescoring form as they hit four past Aberystwyth Town in a 4-0 win.

Neil Mitchell headed in from a corner in the opening minutes to set Newtown on their way to victory. Joe Kenton hit a second-half double before Luke Boundford wrapped up with win.

Elsewhere, a late Nathan Peate strike denied Prestatyn Town a hard-fought victory over Cefn Druids at The Rock.

But the game at the Bangor University Stadium ended early as floodlight failure meant the clash between hosts Bangor City and Connah’s Quay Nomads had to be abandoned.
