Wales On Sunday

How they rated

- BY DOMINIC BOOTH

NEIL ETHERIDGE

Wasn’t tested at all by a blunt Derby attack until the very last minute, but made a vital save from David Nugent. Came good when his team needed him and deserved a clean sheet.

LEE PELTIER

Very solid outing in which he contributed more going forward than usual and offered his usual defensive resilience against the pace of Tom Lawrence.

SEAN MORRISON (CAPT)

The captain was targeted, first by Sam Winnall and then half-time sub Chris Martin, but stood up to the physical challenge even if his delivery from the back was sometimes wayward.

BRUNO MANGA

One moment of ice cool defending in his own six-yard box had hearts in mouths, but went to show what Manga is about. Composed defending under pressure. He was excellent.

JOE BENNETT

Gave away lots of free kicks in an untidy first-half performance but improved considerably as the game wore on. Bombed forward when Hoilett chose to float inside. Booked for a late tackle on Martin.

SOL BAMBA

A couple of crunching early tackles signalled the big man was up for this. He looks every inch at home in the defensive midfield position after building on his imperious Leeds display.

JOE RALLS

Rumours that he was still carrying a knock were quickly dispelled in the first few minutes with some sharp touches. Held his own against the sheer strength of Tom Huddlestone but squandered possession a little too often.

LOIC DAMOUR

Buzzed around with his usual energy and purpose but looked slightly off the pace. Booked in the second half and eventually withdrawn.

JUNIOR HOILETT

Looked in red-hot form against Leeds on Tuesday night and went close to netting an identical strike to his midweek scorcher early on. Another shot whistled wide on the stroke of half-time and one went into the side-netting. The Canadian was sharp.

KENNETH ZOHORE

Worked hard to close down the able Derby defensive duo, Richard Keogh and Curtis Davies, whenever he could. But was expertly marshalled by the visitors.
