TREBANOS won the battle of the newly promoted sides as they continued their steady start in the National Championsh­ip with a 31-20 victory at Rhydyfelin, writes Jay Bayford.

Morgan Evans, Tyler Murvay, Matthew Edwards and Tom Dew all went over to claim the bonus point with Edwards kicking four conversion­s and Murvay adding a penalty.

Rhydyfelin fought back through Macauley Griffiths, Gavin Close and Jordan Rees tries. Dai Gratton kicked a conversion and penalty.

Meanwhile, Pontypool have already establishe­d an eight-point lead at the top of the table after thrashing Narberth 29-0.

Kieran Meek, Lewis Prothero, Ben Parry and Jamie Jeune all touched down for Pooler’s fourth bonus-point win of the season. Matthews completed the rout with three conversion­s and a penalty.

At the other end, Newcastle Emlyn pushed themselves away from the bottom with a 22-11 victory over fellow strugglers Glynneath.

Llyr Jones, Emyr Davies and Mike Jones claimed the Emlyn tries while a penalty from Llyr Davies and two conversion­s from Mitchell Jones pushed them too far ahead for Glyn- neath to catch.

But they did try with Alex Burton going over and Dylan Francis kicking a brace of penalties.

It was a tight match between Skewen and Bedlinog, with the former claiming a 23-22 win.

Tries from Andrew Collins, Gareth Norris and Jamie Sturgess helped Skewen to victory while Adam Rowlands booted eight points.

Bedlinog replied through a penalty try and further touch downs from Dan Parry and Ian Jenkins. Parry then added five points with his boot.

Elsewhere, Newbridge eased past Cardiff Met 33-7.

Luke Morgan and Hayden Palmer were both at the double with Jamie Tucker also claiming a try. Eamonn Rees went on to kick four conversion­s.

Declan Hadley converted Andrew Nurse’s try for Cardiff Met’s consolatio­n.

In the other game, Tata Steel are up to third after beating Beddau 20-15.

Lloyd Bradley converted tries from Jordan Hawkins and Scott Malone before he kicked another two penalties to seal the victory.

Cody Baker and Adam Ashford both thundered over in response while Hywel Chatham kicked five points, but they had David Edwards and Ryan Hall sent off as they crashed to a defeat.

Elsewhere, Treorchy remain top of One East Central after a thumping 52-0 victory over Rumney.

Jacob Lloyd hit a double while Josh Lewis, Cory Dunn, Josh Clarke, Jordan Pritchard, Jordan Thomas and Jordan Lloyd followed him over the whitewash. The latter also bagged six conversion­s.

Meanwhile, Pembroke took the plaudits from Three West A after an outstandin­g 79-14 over Tregaron.

Sam Smith took centre stage with an awesome foursome while Jordan Evans bagged a brace. Scott Powell, Toby Smith, Barry John-Oldeman, Elliott Evans, Luke Hartland, Dominic Coleman and Billy Wood were also on the scoresheet with Sean Dalling kicking seven conversion­s.

Geraint Rowlands and Ieuan Wyn Rees both hit tries for Tregaron while Huw Bonner kicked two conversion­s.

Other big scores came from Whiteheads as they beat Beaufort 51-12 in Three East C and Pwllheli II who thrashed Benllech 81-5 in Three North.
