THE New Saints kept their place at the top of the JD Welsh Premier League table as they came from behind to beat Aberystwyth Town 2-1 at Park Avenue.

Declan Walker fired Aber into an unlikely lead after good work from Ryan Wade.

But in-form striker Greg Draper grabbed his eighth and ninth goals in the last five games to give TNS victory.

However, Cardiff Metropolitan University made it four consecutive wins as they beat Newtown 2-0 to stay one point behind TNS.

Reliable marksman Adam Roscrow put the Students ahead from the spot after Luke Boundford was judged to have handled the ball inside the area.

And the striker notched his sixth league goal of the season in the second half, heading in Eliot Evans’ cross, to seal the three points.

Elsewhere, Bangor City fell to back-to-back defeats as Huws Gray Alliance champions Prestatyn Town claimed a surprise 4-2 victory.

Both teams scored inside the opening 10 minutes with Dean Rittenberg cancelling out Jack Kenny’s opener. A Stephen Hewitt drive then put Bangor in front but Prestatyn fought back with Reece Fairhurst scoring from a James Stead corner.

Influential Bangor attacker Brayden Shaw was then shown two yellow cards in quick succession and Prestatyn took advantage with Ben Maher and Kenny going on to seal the win.

In other action, a long-range effort from Danny Hughes salvaged a point for Llandudno as they drew 1-1 with Connah’s Quay Nomads.

Nathan Woolfe headed the Nomads ahead early in the first half but Hughes ensured the points would be shared with a fine 68th-minute strike.

Meanwhile, a Les Davies double helped Bala to a 2-0 victory over newly promoted Barry Town United while Carmarthen Town earned their fourth point of the season with a goalless draw against Cefn Druids at The Rock.
