HAVERFORDW­EST cemented their place at the top of Nathaniel Car Sales Welsh League Division One with a thumping 5-0 victory over struggling Caerau Ely.

Dan Williams was the star as he hit a first-half hat-trick to put County in full control.

A late Declan Carroll penalty sealed the three points but Charlie Davies added a fifth in the dying minutes.

Gwent-based Goytre remain just two points behind in second following their 4-1 triumph over Undy Athletic.

Luke Prosser inspired Goytre to victory with a treble while Dan McDonald grabbed their fourth. Ben Lawrence claimed a consolatio­n for Undy.

Meanwhile, Llanelli Town left it late to secure a narrow 1-0 win over Cwmamman United.

The game looked to be heading to a goalless stalemate after Chris Curtis had denied Lee Trundle from the spot. But Joe Clarke found the net in the 88th minute to snatch the victory.

And two second-half goals helped Penybont see off Afan Lido 2-0.

Marcus Griffiths opened the scoring in the 50th minute but the game wasn’t safe until Kieran Howard’s 75th minute strike.

Elsewhere, Port Talbot Town fell to a cruel 1-0 defeat to Cambrian & Clydach.

The two sides cancelled each other out but a Rhys Owen own goal was enough to see Cambrian claim the victory.

In other action, Ton Pentre moved off the bottom with a 0-0 draw against Goytre United while Taffs Well beat Monmouth Town 3-0.

A Richard Sharratt hat-trick saw Caldicot Town beat AFC Porth 3-0 and move four points clear at the top of Division Two.
