A LED Jones has been axed from festive BBC programmes while an investigation into alleged sexual harassment continues.

The broadcaster has confirmed the presenter and singer will not feature in the Christmas and New Year episodes of Songs of Praise.

The 46-year-old was also due to appear in tomorrow’s episode of Hairy Bikers Home for Christmas.

But a BBC spokesman said: “We can confirm Aled won’t be featuring in Hairy Bikers Home for Christmas or the Christmas and New Year episodes of Songs of Praise.”

It is also understood that Jones has not presented his Radio Wales show since the end of October.

The former choirboy who shot to fame with his cover of Walking in the Air in 1985, has previously stated that the allegation does not relate to his broadcast work.

A spokesman for Anglesey-born Jones, who is married with two children, also said last month that while he accepts his behaviour over a decade ago was “occasionally juvenile” he “never intended to harass or distress and he strongly denies any inappropriate contact”.

The spokesman said: “Although not related to any broadcast work, Aled voluntarily agreed not to go on the BBC whilst the matter is investigated.

“Whilst he accepts that his behaviour over a decade ago was occasionally juvenile, as was that of others, he never intended to harass or distress and he strongly denies any inappropriate contact.

“He is, however, deeply sorry for any upset caused and hopes this matter is resolved soon.”

The BBC has previously said it is investigating 25 cases of sexual harassment after actively encouraging staff to come forward following the allegations about Hollywood movie producer Harvey Weinstein.
