SWANSEA.........................38 LLANELLI...........................7

THE All Whites ran out convincing winners in a thoroughly-dominant display against old rivals Llanelli at St Helen’s.

Swansea came into the derby on a five-match losing streak, which included some very tight encounters where they were unlucky.

The home side took an early lead through a James Davies penalty after the Llanelli forwards failed to roll away after the tackle.

Fly-half Ioan Hughes turned down a kickable penalty, and it proved the wrong decision as the Whites pack turned over possession at the maul.

Swansea deservedly grabbed the game’s first try when J Rhys Williams took a crash ball near the try line, before Matthew Aubrey quickly recycled possession to send Sam Kiley over at the corner. James Davies converted.

A few minutes later, the Whites added a second touch down when a Rhys R Williams’ grubber kick was collected by Richard Fussell, who grounded the ball in the corner. Davies converted.

Moments before half-time, Llanelli hooker Craig Thomas was shown a yellow card for an off-theball kick and the Whites took full advantage with Morgan Morris crashing over from a maul for his side’s third try. Davies converted.

Llanelli were on the scoreboard almost straight after the interval when Kallum Evans sprinted over halfway, catching the Whites’ defence by surprise. The ball was then shipped out wide to Nathan Hart, who raced down the wing, with Ryan Conbeer doing the rest. Ioan Hughes converted.

The home pack secured a bonus point by marching forward at a scrum five, forcing their counterparts to transgress, and giving referee Evans no option but to award a penalty try.

There was still time for the home side to put further gloss on the victory with a late try for long-serving scrum-half Rhodri Wells after the pack continued its dominance at the scrum.
